Born from frustration…
Ever the classic story: person encounters a frustration, they work on a solution, and then share said solution. This is my solution to my frustration, and maybe yours, too.

About Sharp-Wits
Like others who may be reading this, I had a doomscroll and screen time problem. I went from devouring 300+ page books, when I had the time, and engaging critically with them, to finding I didn’t have much of an attention span for videos. I was also horrified to discover my vocabulary had withered to near nothing. Use it or lose it is one of the truest sayings.
I also started to notice how people were using the wrong their, there, and they’re more frequently. When I picked up a book and sat the phone down, I was disappointed by the state of most popular literature. There are good books today, don’t get me wrong, but it was a struggle to find wordsmiths of today that could hold a match to those of yesteryear.
It couldn’t just be me. After taking to the internet, because of course, I found plenty of people that shared similar problems. Their attention span was shot, they felt they had lost a mental edge or clarity, they wanted to find hobbies that felt meaningful as they embraced less screen time, simply expand their vocabulary, improve their writing, and the list goes on.
Everywhere it seemed like people were looking for a community for those seeking to engage more mindfully or even minimize their digital experiences. I’m just here to add another source that focuses on the writing portion with a hint of other crafty hobbies and rooting oneself in the physical world.

The Whooo Behind Sharp-Wits
For the day-to-day writing, content creation, and similar, there’s just a single gal behind Sharp-Wits. I work in the creative realm as a Creative Strategist where I straddle the line between all things creative and marketing. This involves a lot of writing for copy like site content, social media captions, sales letters, emails, etc.
In my free time, I still love to write; just, more creatively than the standard Problem, Agitate, Solution (PAS) templates or technical guides. I also love to read, study too many languages, and a beaucoup of other hobbies that fall more in line with the analog/physical world. While a good video game is always welcome, it just rarely feels as fulfilling as other hobbies these days.
Common Questions
Doesn’t digital defeat the purpose?
Not quite. If you ask five people for a definition of digital minimalism, you’re likely to end up with at least seven different answers. What exactly that looks like differs slightly to each person.
Also, Sharp-Wit’s main focus is on building your vocabulary. However, I do have a preference for print media and find it is more engaging. That’s exactly why I’m working on a print periodical for others like us or those dedicated to their digital minimalism journey.
Why scrapbooks?
Scrapbooking isn’t the only hobby we recommend. We also suggest keeping a journal, maybe knit a bit, or build a puzzle. Anything analog.
Okay. I do have a type. Some, like keeping a scrapbook, are rooted memory keeping without handing your most prized moments over to the cloud for hackers everywhere. Most are also just what I happen to gravitate toward, so I know how to speak about them. By all means, the list isn’t exhaustive and I’ll never claim it to be. Sports are another great option and I’d love to hear reader’s take on how joining the 5 A.M. club for a morning job improved their life.
What is your purpose?
You’re getting real existential on me there. However, Sharp-Wit’s purpose is simply to help others who want to improve their writing skills while reclaiming their brain as a whole.
The mission is to combat anti-intellectualism plaguing the world by helping those looking to improve themselves.

Where Else can I Find Sharp-Wits?
The gal behind Sharp-Wits isn’t big on social media. There’s a Pinterest, a Substack, the site, a (soon-to-be) StampFans, and that’s it. Unless you see an announcement on one of those sources, anything else is a fake.
